All Visitors Require a Valid Passport!
Regardless of where you’re arriving from, all individuals aboard your vessel need a valid passport.
Completing the GC27 Form (Report of Arrival for Pleasure-Craft)
This form is essential for all private vessels arriving in the Bailiwick of Guernsey (Guernsey, Alderney, Herm, Sark). It helps us manage goods, people, and meet international requirements.
- Who needs to complete it? The Master of all private vessels arriving in the Bailiwick.
- When to submit it? As soon as possible after arrival, or before anyone goes ashore.
- Where to get it?
- Our friendly marina staff will issue a copy of this form on your arrival to St Peter Port.
- You can also find them at Beaucette Marina and Braye Harbour (Alderney).
- Forms also available online here: gov.gg
- Where to submit it? The white copy should be handed in at a Customs Office or deposited in one of the yellow Customs boxes located around the marinas. (show photo of yellow box)
- Don’t forget the ‘Q’ Flag! Non-local vessels, and local vessels with goods or people to declare, must fly the yellow ‘Q’ (Quarantine) flag until the GC27 form has been submitted. (photo)
First Port of Call in the Bailiwick
Your first arrival in the Bailiwick must be at an approved port. These are:
- St Peter Port Harbour (Guernsey)
- Beaucette Marina (Guernsey)
- Braye Harbour (Alderney)
You cannot arrive directly at Herm or Sark.
Bringing Your Pet to Guernsey
Bringing your furry friend is usually straightforward, especially from within the Common Travel Area (CTA).
- From UK, Jersey, Isle of Man, Republic of Ireland:
- Cats, dogs, and ferrets can be imported directly without a license, pet passport, or health requirements, as long as they travel directly from these locations.
- Great news for pet owners! Pets from the CTA can berth alongside our pontoons in the marinas in Guernsey. You’ll find a variety of dog-friendly areas nearby to enjoy walks with your companion.
- From EU Member States and Approved Countries (Pet Travel Scheme):
- Pets must be microchipped, vaccinated against rabies (with a 21-day waiting period after vaccination), and have an EU Pet Passport or Official Veterinary Health Certificate.
- Dogs also require tapeworm treatment 24-120 hours before entry.
- Important: Animals cannot be imported under the Pet Travel Scheme from private aircraft or private boats. The only approved route for these is generally by ferry (e.g., Brittany Ferries from St. Malo).
- From Other Places:
- Stricter rules apply, including rabies antibody tests and longer waiting periods. Again, direct entry by private vessel is generally not permitted; approved routes are typically via commercial ferry.
